Why is it so hard to land a job in Houston??
Sorry in advance if i seem like im all over the place
I just moved here to Houston from Missouri back in early june due to my fiancée having a better job opportunity and unfortunately i was left unable to have a job lined up before hand due to the timing they were wanting him here. A little background, i am a CNA with 14 plus years of experience (Hospital, home health, agency, SNF, rehab facilities YOU NAME IT) before we left i was working at one of the best hospitals in my hometown, i had been there for about 4 years. Was getting ready to enroll in school due to my job paying for it everything was good back home honestly.
Around mid july i started applying to jobs, mainly the hospitals so i could get back to what i was doing but now here we are about to go into OCTOBER and I’m still without a job. And yes, EVERYTHING hospital related that i have been applying to i have experience in. Ive transferred my license and have no type of criminal background, Ive tailored my resume. I have proof of a high school diploma, i definitely meet the requirements of the jobs I’m applying for but have received nothing but rejection emails or ghosting. I’ve looked into home health and alot of companies are underpaying with no benefits available. So I put my pride to the side started applying to nursing homes(haven’t worked in one outside of an agency in over 10 years) and when i call to check the status the DON or whoever is in charge of hiring etc never get back to me but lets be foreal who wants to work harder and work understaffed for $14 or less an hr ?! So im starting to realize that my license may not get put to use here so i then started to apply at places like walmart, target, costco, walgreens, HEB, Kroger hell ive applied for housekeeping, cashier, retail, sales representative roles and all rejection emails or nothing at all! Im becoming so discouraged and just don’t know what to do at this point.
