Don't you love the speed radars that try to browbeat drivers into driving below the speed limit but don't actually have any enforcement mechanism? /s
I get these random newsletters from one of the Charleston, SC, council members. She's doing a pretty good job as far as working towards safety for road users, so I'm a fan.
As part of her outreach to her constituents, she asked people to get in touch with her if people are speeding on their roads, and if they are, she might be able to set them up with "Temporary radar speed signs — the ones that show drivers their actual speed."
Again, I have nothing against this elected official. She's working with what she's got available to her under state law, but it is SO RIDICULOUS that our state (and others) are forced to resort with shaming drivers to try to get them slow down.
Like, in other less idiotic jurisdictions, if there's a speeding issue, you slap up a ticket-writing camera and call it a day. Here in the road rager's paradise of South Carolina, all we can do is give you the angry eyebrows and a flashing digital sign telling you what a bad boy you are as you blast past.
It's so ridiculous.
