Stupid question (?)

Hi everyone, first time for me here!!

A couple of months ago I managed to score a good deal on a Kaoss Pad 3+ in mint condition, and I wanted to give it a try with Live 12 as well, other than with my RS7000 (as a multi effect, not as a midi controller).

Yesterday a friend of mine warned me that using it as a final output before going into a mixer in a live situation may give some very bad "return" problems, so he suggested that I should make the KP3+ go into Ableton again and then put a limiter on it, and then go out to the mixer. But that seems kinda impossible to me and my very little knowledge, am I wrong?

Of course as you'll have already guessed, I'm still a big noob when it comes to those things, so any help is appreciated.
