Parents sleeping next to their kids - what’s your take?

We’re in a situation where husband is sleeping next to our 3 year old daughter every night, while I handle baby for the night.

Daughter has always been a troubled sleeper and on days where she doesn’t nap, she ends up having night terrors from being overtired. So husband sleeps next to her to help get her back to sleep and stop her from hurting herself against the bed frame when she’s having an episode. It’s easier for him to just stay there afterwards and sleep next to her, rather than shuffling back and forth between our bed and hers every time she wakes.

I think it’s perfectly normal and acceptable, and don’t see any issues with it. It’s developmental and she’ll grow out of it. We’ve always felt that it was our decision to have kids, and in doing so we promised to always support them when they need us, including when it comes to sleep. Husband sometimes feels guilty and like him sleeping next to her is negatively affecting her. But I keep reminding him she’s not going to be 18 and still sleeping next to him.

So please, share your thoughts and help me ease his mind that he’s not doing any damage by supporting her during sleep.
