Why can I remember the exact lyrics to a song I haven't heard in 10 years, but I forget why I walked into the kitchen 5 seconds ago?

I've noticed this happening a lot lately. I can hear an old song from middle school and sing every single word flawlessly without even thinking about it. But then, I will literally stand up to go get my car keys, walk into the next room, and completely forget what I was doing.

Is there an actual neurological reason why our brains hold onto music so deeply while failing at immediate, short-term daily memory? I'm genuinely curious about how these two types of memory work differently.
