Starring Role, Mother

The possibility of children
Is coming near.
To my surprise,
It brought with it some fear.
 
Have I done myself justice
These last few years?
 
I still hide behind the curtains
Of my own childhood fears.
 
But
I want to lead by example.
My mission as a mother,
Clear.
 
So, I walk onto the stage
Of life
Unaffected by sneers.
 
I’m ready for my flowers
Before I have children.
Who watch and cheer.
