Made it through the barbaric manometry test only to be told I may benefit from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy.)
I was just diagnosed with IEM (ineffective esphogeal motility) and also have EDS plus many other things like gastroparesis/small bowel dysmotility/mast cell/ etc. I have been in the hospital for 11 days.
I got manometry test back and my results were:
56% failed
33% weak
89% ineffective total
11% intact
67% incomplete bolus clearance
My barium test showed moderate and sometimes severe retention in upper/mid esphogus. Endoscopy showed Squamous epithelium with reactive epithelial changes and a near GE junction - classified as Hill Grade II (fold present, opens with respiration).
Im getting motility meds and one of the GI docs said I should try CBT for my anxiety to help.
Then told my main doctor that so I’m feeling dismissed. He explained with my history he doesn’t think psycho somatic but anxiety can worsen my symptoms so make sure I’m mindful of that
Why is that always the first thing thrown out there. Just need to vent for a moment. It’s been a hard few weeks.
