Combat: am I bad? [KCD1]
I want to preface this with the fact that I think this game is great, that I am 27 or so hours in (on steam anyway) and find myself compelled to play it.
But I cannot get past the combat. It was a learning curve at first to an extent, but having played plenty of Mount and Blade the concept was not new to me.
This far in I find myself having little to no issue whatsoever in 1v1’s. It’s fighting more than one enemy at a time that is the issue. Thing is, it’s not just a little bit harder, some fights it just seems to be ridiculous.
Now don’t get me wrong, it makes sense - it should be significantly harder to fight several people all by yourself than just one other person - but my issue is the camera. Target switching in combat just seems to be so unnecessarily difficult. I can see that the guy to my left is about to swing, I block, try to counter attack, and I just swing at the guy I’m locked on to. It also seems to be so hard to just effectively switch between several guys efficiently without spamming the combat lock button, and sometimes I get to the guy I want to lock on to far too late, and then have to cycle through again to go back on the defensive.
Point here is - am I missing something? Is there a way for me to manage the combat camera better that I am just failing to use? Or am I just bad at the game?
I really want to get through the game, but when I have a situation (like, 5 minutes ago) where I clear one bandit camp with ease, collect my reward, go to the next, just to be stun locked into a stamina spiral and lose most of my health in 3 seconds just to get sent back to my save from when I last logged off (20 minutes of gameplay ago), I find it hard to persevere!!
