TL;DR - open and honest communication scored me a date with my crush

So without recapping too much of the previous post, I have a friend I’ve known since high school that I recently realized I had a huge crush on. I’ve known her for almost 15 years at this point, and it’s kind of ridiculous it took me this long to put two and two together. 

After conversations with her about my personal experiences dating and being in the dating scene, about a month ago she said she “wasn’t ready” and “didn’t feel jealous” of those who were dating, so I never got the chance to tell her how I feel as I felt if I told her then it would’ve been uncomfortable for her. 

Fast forward to the last 36 hours. 

Yesterday morning at like 8am I texted her like normal, chatting and joking and being silly. Things got NSFW / Rated R quickly as our sense of humor is very dicks boobs pussy balls. Over the next eight hours we on and off kept chatting and joking about kinks and fetishes we share, and I joked that “our Venn Diagram is a circle”. She did what she refers to as a “pit stop” where we checked in to see if we went too far with any of our jokes or if anything made each other uncomfortable. I said I “green” with the conversation and complimented her for being so cute to check in on how I felt. After some more back and forth of me telling her she’s very cute, she responded along the lines of,

“Yeah, if I was in a better mental place I would’ve asked you out ages ago.” After collecting myself and stopping myself from screaming with joy in the bathroom at work, I responded saying along the lines of,

“Well, I’m still single. So if there’s a moment where you feel like you’re ready again, I’m first in line.”

Through the next several hours of open and genuine communication and discussing our own personal boundaries and fears and anxieties about dating others, we agreed to test the waters and have a date on Tuesday where after getting lunch we’re going back to hers for “a movie or something idk ;)”
