My boyfriend said something cruel and idk what to think of him
For context, my(22m) boyfriend and I(19F) have been together for almost a year. We have constant fights, but we respect each other. I am adopted, I never hid this fact from him and he always used the terms biological or birth family to refer to the family I had before adoption.
Now he is Indian. I am Mexican. We are one of those couples who seems very toxic and loud to each other but we love each other. His family came here legally, while I'm unsure of my families history. The important part is that I am adopted, live with a family of all races and ethnicities, struggled with money, and am the first to go to college and work a consistent job. His family is well off, he barely works, his family seems strictly Indian. His family and friends made comments about me, like that they wonder what it would be like if he married me(a Christian while he is Hindu).
So no comments made it to my brain like what he just said to me. He was letting me know that we was going out with his family until around midnight, something that has never happened before. I explained that it made me uncomfortable, and he responded by saying he was with his blood family. Something about the way he kept repeating that got under my skin really bad. I'm currently not speaking to him.
I could be overreacting, but he never used the term "blood family" before. He's never made bad comments about my adoption or anything like that, but he always got quiet when I brought it up or when he even asked about it. I love him, but I don't know how to talk to him or face him after this. What do I do?
