Echovault creates an AI version of you from your journal
I’ve been building EchoVault around a slightly crazy idea. What if your personal journal could gradually become an AI representation of you, one that remembers your experiences, understands your worldview and can eventually tell your stories when you’re no longer around?
Instead of simply dumping journal entries into an LLM, EchoVault has an AI biographer that guides you through Check-Ins, asking questions about your memories, relationships, beliefs and experiences. Over time, these become the foundation of your Echo, an AI version of you that can answer questions using the memories you’ve intentionally shared.
The latest addition is a 3D brain visualizer. Every memory becomes part of an explorable network, with connections between related experiences. You can navigate your brain, inspect individual memories and explore the relationships your Echo has formed. I’ve found myself spending quite a bit of time exploring my own. It almost feels like spatial introspection.
The video is a demonstration of my own Echo answering questions and its brain map in action. I’m not claiming it’s conscious or sentient. It’s simply becoming increasingly convincing at what I designed it to do, represent me through the memories I’ve given it.
The long-term goal is a consent-first digital legacy that your loved ones can interact with when you’re gone.
