Italy Car rental insurance question

I am an american that wants to rent a car in Sicily from one of the major carriers (alamo, hertz etc). do you know if they typically offer liability insurance in conjunction with collision insurance for a renter to purchase? My normal insurance may not extend to Italy. Thanks
