Is the "Loading the World" Bug Considered Fixed?

My gf and I wanted to start playing zomboid, but every time I try to start a server I just get stuck loading the world forever. I saw that the most recent major update a couple months ago seemed to be responsible for this issue, but an August 17th update claims to have fixed it, and the last posts I could find about it here were a couple months old. Is this still considered an ongoing issue and I should just wait for another update, or is it actually fixed and I need to consider other solutions? Thanks
