i lost the key fob for my 2013 535xi

so basically, i drove the car home from work sunday evening, and haven’t seen my key fob since and i do not have a spare. the car is still unlocked, so would i be correct in assuming the key fob is nearby? i’ve tried to start the vehicle and it does not start, so i assume the key fob is not inside of the car still. i’ve already spent hours searching all over the garage as well as my house but i really cannot seem to track them down. i got quoted $400 for a mobile locksmith to program a new key fob for me, and $570 from the BMW dealer to do it. i wanted to post here to see if anybody had any advice they could give before i spend that kind of money
