Our increasingly religous obsession with self improvement is ruining the mental health of the youth

This is probably not an unpopular opinion here on Reddit, but i feel when it comes to the general consensus of society the pendulum may be swinging towards the other direction right now.
Onto the original post:
Many teens and young adults between the ages of 15-27 are internalizing a lot of messaging around being perfect with everything: From social networking to getting the perfect gym physique to optimizing every meal to being good with your dating game to optimizing your finances to seeking education credentials and so forth that I think it is starting to take a toll on many youngsters because they're trying hard to really make sure they don't end up disappointing their mentors, but if you're not given the breathing room to be a little human, I am not sure we're selling them on the right track.
Is great that we wanna hold them to high standards and not coddle and infantalize them with low expectations, I am on board with that, but there is a difference between and trying to sell them on this idea of **personal infallibility** which can be mentally detrimental and dangerous to many young people's impressionable minds...
So yeah I think we need to cut back a bit of the self improvement lectures and instead ask them where do they need a little bit of help.
Religious in the title means to be very devoted about something
