I always thought she was anxiously attached
So I had a relationship from 22-23 with my gf. It was a year and a half. I always thought I was the avoidant one and she was anxiously attached. I shut down during hard conversations and I realized I needed to do a lot of work on that. But she would also go silent and need to “think” for a day or so and then come to me and want to figure it out. The reason I thought she was anxiously attached is she was always asking “do you love me?” And “Are you mad at me?”
Now on to the breakup story. I was moving out of my place and needed to stay with her for 10 days until my new apartment opened up. She was supposed to come and help me move out since I was working 75 hours a week and couldn’t get time off. Then, over the phone, she started freaking out that I would have too much stuff, so I told her I would just stay at my friend’s place instead. She was crying and freaking out and said “I don’t think we’re right for each other.” And I said, can we talk about this in person. This isn’t a convo for over the phone.
A week goes by, and I’m busy with everything but I give her a call. She says she was sorry for saying that over the phone and wants to come down soon to talk things out in person. We end it there. Another few days go by and I ask to call. She doesn’t answer for 24 hours. Then, she sends me a text. “Hey, I actually don’t want any of my stuff back from you, and I know you don’t need anything from me either. I think it’s best if we skip the meetup so we can both move on. I wish you the best, but I’m going to stop communicating now.”
And that’s the last I’ve heard from her. It’s been a month. Naturally, I’ve been desperate and looking for some answers/closure. She blocked me on a lot of things, but I sent her a letter, texted her friend, texted some members of her family that I was fairly close with, and finally messaged her through WhatsApp where I wasn’t blocked, telling her I was done and was going to finally stop communicating. She viewed the message and I blocked her. That was 3 days ago.
With each message, I feel like she got more distant. And it’s really weird. I thought I was avoidant, but I wanted to work things out. I thought she was anxious, yet she just ran away when things got hard.
Can someone give me some advice? Maybe this sounds familiar to you or you can tell me she just genuinely hates me. Idc. But reading about avoidant a lot of it makes sense now and I need to make sure I’m not crazy.
