Today was delivery day at the Tempe Service Center in Arizona. BIG shout out to James, Christine and all the folks I don't know but helped deliver my R2. I've only owned manual transmission gasoline powered vehicles. However, I've been doing my homework on EVs for a few years. The R2 checked all the boxes when first shown in 2024. I think some get over worked up about all the potential problems, and yes, they do exist. I showed up with not one, not two, but three different delivery checklists. In the end, I gave the vehicle a good going over based on what I'd learned to look for. No I did not check boxes nor take 400 photos. The vehicle was in excellent shape. Small disappointment that all the stuff including the spare tire were not present. On the positive side, the DC charge adapter was available and when push comes to shove that's what I really needed for a road trip. Since I'd done my homework, I didn't need to be shown how every thing worked. Christine of Tempe Service Center did a bang up job on the trade-in, registration paperwork and helping set up both my and my spouse's digital keys. To stay humble, had to pull over on the 53 mile drive home cause I'd gotten the back wiper turned on and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Couldn't find the answer in the manual, but a search with AI bailed me out. In the future Rivian Assistant will do it. Getting home I was thrilled to find that the Emporia Classic charger that I installed in June to get the federal tax credit actually worked. Connected Chispa Verde (aka Sparky) to my mesh wi-fi and fired up Apple Music. I've read lots comments on the sound system. More than meets my expectations, but my other vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler. Still figuring stuff out but this is a great vehicle and my experience with the Rivian folks has been most positive. And if you really want to know what's going on inside your R2, charging trips, etc., signing up for Rivian Roamer is worth it. Sign up for free, take a look and then decide if you want all the info. Can't wait to take Chispa Verde off-road - i.e. 1.5 miles from home.
