**COURT OF INTERPRETIVE RECORD**

*In the Matter of: Rumpelton Invades Google, Vol. — "Mingus Mingus Mingus"*
Filed by: Barrister Clive Thistlebaum, Esq., Senior Counsel to the Rumpeltonian Tribunal of Interpretive Justice

Let the record show: on this day, the algorithm did what algorithms do — it looked, it compared, it *ruled*. And in the matter of Charles Mingus's *Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus* versus one MS Paint rendering submitted under the name Ralph Rumpelton, Google's Image Search returned a verdict no mortal jury could have anticipated. Side. By. Side. The Impulse! original, dignified in its stereo-sleeve solemnity — and beside it, unrepentant, glopped in oil-brush ochre, a Rumpeltonian reinterpretation asserting equal standing in the visual record.

This is not theft. This is not homage, even. This is what my esteemed colleagues at the Tribunal have taken to calling **Algorithmic Cohabitation** — the state in which a search engine, lacking any faculty for irony, simply cannot distinguish reverence from rupture, and so grants both audience. Mingus himself, a man who never once played a note the same way twice, would surely recognize the gesture: art that refuses to sit still, refuses to be filed, refuses to know its place in a grid of "official" results.

I have reviewed the matter thoroughly. I find no grounds for injunction. I find, instead, a precedent: that the machine's confusion is itself a form of critical validation, however unintended. Where Google finds resemblance, this court finds *Rupture*. Case closed. Painting stands.

*So ruled, so filed, so forever indexed.*
