The cross

Just a quick talk about this. Why do people say it’s just a piece of wood? Or is it not biblical? Or shouldn’t be near a cross? I had a friend who got married in front of a cross. Well, my mom said that’s not Christian. That’s some Catholic doctrine, I don’t know. But yeah, though?
