Not self initiating for pee at all
2.5 yo has been trained for 2 months now. Poop was a breeze, she will announce that she needs to potty even midway through a meal and it always means poop. We also sit on the potty after meals so we catch it naturally.
The issue is pee. She was announcing it plenty the first weeks, but now never says she has to pee. The only way I’m catching it is with activity based prompts (leaving the house, after nap etc) that do roughly happen every 2-3 hrs.
When we’re at home playing (I’m a SAHM) I do not prompt. I remind her to listen to her body; we talk about keeping her undies nice and dry bc the characters on them “don’t like to get wet!” I tell her she’s in charge of peeing when she’s ready. She has a small potty she can use anytime, and I tell her she can do that; we practice pulling pants up and down a lot.
She has a pee accident once a day or every other day, generally she’ll say “I need to use the potty” and she will already have leaked bc she was keeping it so long.
Is this something that will just click or do I need to do something more proactive?
