Honest review r/carvana threatened to ban me for
I just bought from carvana for the first time. I will probably never do it again. My husband found a good deal on a Laramie that he really wanted.
The payment and insurance went fine. We picked it up from a hub about 2 hours away to save the additional $500 delivery fee.
We had to pay a non refundable $700 delivery fee to get it to the hub from Montana or wherever it was. It would have been $500 more for home delivery.
The truck wasn't even vacuumed. I mean, they didn't even try. It was beyond filthy. We contacted carvana about it and they didn't even know what to say when we sent pictures. It looked like it was in a dust storm with the windows down. They said by policy the most they can offer is a $150 check. The detailing will cost $350. And we spent $50 pressure washing it at one of those places that takes quarters.
The truck had at least 20 features listed that were non existent and I'm not talking about the accessories they don't guarantee will be there. Although, there were accessories listed that they said were there that wasn't too.
Overall, I think it's really terrible they'd keep my $700 had I not followed through with their filthy truck that was listed as having a lot of things it didn't (that I didn't notice until after getting home obviously).
After that experience, I see it as a costly gamble if you're even going to get what you think you're getting.
Also, the dealership we had look it over told us if the tires were missing just 1/32 more tread it would have been illegal for them to let us drive off the lot with it. They didn't even warn us about the tires knowing we were driving 2 hours away in the rain at night. It was a terrible drive for my husband. We had to spend another $1500 on tires.
Pretty much everyone I've told about this said "Thanks for warning me. I'll never buy from Carvana after hearing that".
The nightmare isn't even over. It still has an open recall and the screen has to be replaced under warranty. Carvana obviously saves money by not cleaning or servicing vehicles and they don't even have employees that know what packages their vehicles have. Shame on them
I just got threatened with a reddit ban for posting this in r/carvana and it was immediately removed. Because it says you can write reviews, but apparently they can only be positive? As if anyone is going to believe that people only have 100% positive experiences from carvana. I want it to be known that you need to do your due diligence and you need to make sure you're okay forfeiting your fees sent.
Oh, I forgot to mention the ant colony the truck came with in the rear bumper. I had to figure out it's a carnivorous ant native to Montana and buy a different kind of ant killer. We're used to sugar ants and omnivore species.
