Is it uncouth to hand out groceries to the homeless?

Every week, we receive a plethora of varied groceries that I simply cannot finish. It’s loads of fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy, canned goods and others.

I was wondering if it would be okay to simply hand it all out to a homeless person? Is it okay or, will they feel like it’s not trustworthy? I know how susceptible they are to hate crimes and don’t want them to feel unsafe.
