In the last 6 years I have had two companies shave time cards multiple times against myself and others. Without saying which payroll companies used, they were two of the largest ones. We've discovered that both of these companies allow an employer to alter punches without notification in the app on the timecard to show an edit let alone who did it depending on how it was performed. The only way I discovered these occurances was by taking screen shots of every punch I made after I made it and then cross referencing those against the timecard after changes were made by my employer. Sometimes edits were just at the end of the week, but they would also occur after the end of a shift especially during times they asked me to work overtime.

The payroll companies in question do not allow inquiries by employees they service deposits for but only the companies that pay for their services. So there is no way of recording these occurances unless you are able to screen shot original punches or take photos for your own records, and no way to obtain records of edits from payroll companies unless you have a lawyer subpoena the information. The majority of people this happening to being either unable to afford lawyers or possibly having the stolen wages negated by the cost of lawyers makes this issue even worse.

One can only wonder how much wage theft occurs annually via the payroll processors enabling the ability for such things to occur, and one would think they are complicit by design by not incorporating full transparency of any punch edits done by employers without employee consent.

One of the more blatant examples I have attached where my boss shaved one hour alternating days the day payroll was to be processed. I was asked to work six days and work longer each shift that I was scheduled for.

Anyone else have similar experiences they would like to share?

Every payroll processor allows wage theft by design
