Help am I dumb
Just wanted to get a more experienced professional's take on this as I've been struggling with confidence at my new job. I graduated recently with an economics undergrad. I was a really good student and got lots of awards for my senior thesis. Because of this, I somehow got a junior analyst job in asset management at a finance firm a month ago, despite having zero finance experience π there is another junior there with an econ degree as well, so I don't feel entirely alone, but I honestly feel everyday like I don't know what THE HELL I'm doing because I didn't study finance. I'm using so much AI at work to figure things out, which I hate so much. Feel like I make so many tiny mistakes and am mega slow. Management is honestly really nice, but I feel like I'm fooling them just cause I'm a fairly charismatic person I guess and have a good track record. They are now getting me to be the lead junior on a new project starting next week and I'm freaking out because I'm still understanding what financial models even do.
Just wondering if it's normal to not understand what you're doing at your new finance job as a grad and if things will make sense in a few months or if I need to apply to McDonald's because I'll get fired ππ
