AITA for separating myself from a creepy and manipulative friend who everyone else is still friends with

So this argument had turned into a screaming match. John called me and Genny rich, which I’m not. My parents are both teaching artists at colleges.

To make matters worse, my girlfriend breaks up with me over text DURING this conversation. Day from hell.

I tried to brush everything off and go to school fine the next day. I planned to c/ut John off completely. I wanted nothing to do with him.

It was pretty peaceful for a bit. I was still friends with Genny, who’s a big gossiper. She would tell me about what John was doing, which included making a musical about his friend’s problems. He wrote a whole plotline on me and my ex, who he didn’t even know!

Over the school year, Genny, Felix, and Allie all told me they had stopped being friends with him. So. Many. Times. Not once were they telling the truth.

There were incidents during the school year, including putting me in many AI posters without my consent, a shitty apology where he lied to make me feel better, and a long ass paragraph that made literal no coherent sense.

I ended up b/0ck!ng him after he and Felix called me on Instagram. I was mad. And I knew I had to see him this summer for my final show at this community theatre camp. Tbh, it wasn’t that bad. My only issue is that all my friends and everyone who knew him before this year was still friends with him, even after knowing everything he did!

This summer was fine. He just kept trying to talk to me through other people, including on text. He has no idea of boundaries and can’t read social cues. It’s more annoying than anything.

So… AITA for b/0cking him and cutt!ng him off almost completely? I had to unblock him on messages because I’m in so many group chats with and it got annoying.
