eBay stole $337 from me
I’ve sold on and off on eBay for years and my account has all my information on it including my SSN, bank info, everything. For some reason eBay is still saying they “can’t verify” me and now they’ve been holding my money for almost 2 months.
I sold an item on August 5th.
Sale breakdown was:
$448.78 total sale amount
$29.36 taxes and government fees
$81.74 total selling costs (ebay fees & shipping label)
$337.68 net sale
I packed it and shipped it on August 8th and it was delivered to the buyer on August 11th.
After it was delivered, eBay showed that my funds would be released 31 days after delivery, which they said would be September 11th.
That date came and went and I still have nothing.
I’ve called eBay multiple times in between all of this and every time I just get passed around to different call centers and told to be patient. Nobody can actually tell me why the money is still being held or what exactly I need to do.
It has now been 51 days since I sold the item and the buyer has had it this entire time. No issue with the buyer, item was delivered, transaction is done, but I still can’t cash out my payout and eBay is still holding the $337.68.
Today I tried using the live chat again to get transferred to somebody on the phone and now I’m just getting:
“Sorry, we’re having technical difficulties. If you try again, I should be able to help you, or you can search online help.”
At this point I’m just confused and pissed off. The buyer got what they paid for, eBay took their fees, and I’m the only one sitting here with nothing.
Has anybody else had eBay hold a payout this long? What did you have to do to actually get your money released? Any advice on who I should contact or what my next step should be would be appreciated.
