AITAH for being mad at my mother, because she refused to take me to the hospital?
For context Im freshly 18, still in school (UK sixth-form college), and the story goes like this:
Im sitting in a free period with some friends when I suddenly start getting chest pains, crazy fast palpitations, back and jaw pain (classic signs of a heart issue). I feel immediately this isnt something normal, or even that itll go away, im panicking. I go outside to catch some air, thought itll help but no. Anyway, i call my mother to try get help, i tell her my symptoms and that im really worried and that she should come soon if possible and take me to the hospital. The first thing she says to me over the phone isnt anything calming, isnt anything reassuring, or anything helpful, its; "Ah fuck, well youre doing things too fast. Fast, fast, fast. Thats what youre all about. Angry, loud and fast and now this". I hung the phone up because i couldnt believe her response in that moment. She then proceeds to text me "get yourself to the hospital!". I was genuinely stunned.
Should also say, my mother is an absolute workaholic, prioritises her job over everything, even me. But for logical purposes, i did believe she would take her only son's chest pains a little more seriously and rush out and get me.
I then texted back, kind of slandering her a little bit. Called her unbelievable, at which point she started another strategy- trying to pin something on me so i feel guilty for some wicked reason (tried to tell me im always screaming at her for no reason and should be sorry). I lost it at that point and called her really selfish. To which she replied "I'm not your punching bag. Get yourself to the hospital and dont ask me for anything"
After this was over, thankfully it wasnt something too serious but it had me panicking like crazy, she gets home later that night and decides to play the victim. She's angry at me, for calling her out on her behaviour. She wont do anything for me since then- wont cook dinner for me when shes already cooking, will intentionally miss out the things i might put on the shopping list, wont talk to me, etc etc.
We have never been close like other parents and children, but never did i think she would be like this, in time of a medical emergency. I have to live with her for another 8 months before i finish school, but im thinking of going no contact afterwards. This was the last straw i think with her narcissistic behaviour. If she cant acknowledge that i couldve possibly died because of her behaviour then i dont know how to reason with her.
