Update about old post about midland lawsuit
Hi all, so wanted to update everyone. Original post below. My relative worked with Carpls (legal aid in Illinois) and was able to prove hardship And is no longer liable for the debt. This is a person in their 50s with a lifelong disability who will never work again (only worked part time before over the years) and only gets SSDI, which is protected funds (what my original post was about). They are now living in supported housing that only leaves them with $90 monthly. We just had to attend 2 court sessions via Zoom and use the ERP program in between. When we signed in to court yesterday, we had to request that the case come up because they didn’t call it and the lawyer said they’d filed for dismissal and the judge confirmed she received it and told us it was over.
