Local business licenses

According to ChatGPT step number 5 or making this company happen, I need to apply for a city business license. This seems very annoying and over the top.

So if I place machines in different cities I need to have one for each city. Bruh.

I’m located in California where I’m getting screwed to just even fart.
Is this something everyone is actually doing ?
