I’m working on a small co-op horror game called Passenger Zero and lately I’ve been trying different ways to market.

The game is basically cooking and serving food on a train while trying to figure out which passengers are infected.

I’ve tried a few different types of posts so far. Some were just gameplay clips, some were more focused on the concept and some were basically just showing what we’re working on.

What surprised me is that the simple concept posts seem to get much more attention than the posts where I just show gameplay.

I think the “cooking food on a train while trying to figure out who is infected” part is probably more interesting than the actual gameplay footage by itself.

So now I’m trying to figure out how much the marketing should focus on the concept rather than the game itself.

Steam page if anyone wants to take a look:

For the other indie devs here, how do you approach this?

Do you usually sell the concsept first and then show the game, or do you think gameplay should be the main thing?

I’ve been trying different ways to market our co-op game on Reddit and I’m curious what works for others
