What birth control should I use if I only need it for sex?

Which Method?

My periods are incredibly, incredibly regular. I've never been more than a day late, early, long, or short in all eight years since I first got it. I get tiny, sharp pains on alternating sides of my navel each month which I assume is ovulation cramps, and they're also very normal. I'm definitely at the mercy of my hormones most times, with obvious mood swings and changes in strength and energy, but I have learned to manage it very well. In short, I don't need regulating whatsoever.

The only reason I need birth control is because I've recently become sexually active with my boyfriend, and I want to be safer than just using condoms. I've had a consult about an IUD, but the procedure seemed too invasive. I also know from experience with other daily meds that I'll be too forgetful to take birth control pills; i'll probably miss a pill every week or so. I'm also a little concerned about where my libido will end up if I take hormonal birth control. during my cycle, my sex drive can go from ravenous to basically numb down there, and I'd really prefer to not be stuck numb. I'm considering nexplanon but, in the end, I'd prefer something that will affect my hormones and cycle as little as possible. Is there anything like that?

tldr, my hormones and cycle superhumanly regular, but I want to be safer than just condoms. what're my options?
