Airship Assault cannot survive on Roblox anymore
Hello, I am Falfaldog. I’ve been playing this game for years now and have participated in a fair few community events and official ones. To cut to the chase I believe that AA will eventually fade into obscurity if it stays in the state it’s in. And it is my opinion that we MUST move off platform.
I’m sure that most of us have heard that AA’s devs: heed and amir. Have lost interest in updating the game due to Roblox’s inconsistent behaviour, and changes to the platform itself. This has left AA without any real updates for a long, long time now. This has resulted in the player-base slowly shrinking over time. While the change is subtle it is noticeable that the player-base hasn’t been the same since the game was active last.
This mainly happened because of the infamous chat update, which shattered player cohesion not just in AA, but across all of Roblox itself. The chat update mutilated AA and ruined a team’s ability to coordinate and share information with eachother. This has led to situations where I have been screaming into the chat that I needed crew to help in the boiler, but nobody could even see the message. Chat was one of the key features of Roblox that AA relied on and now that it’s in the mutilated state it’s in AA has began to suffer.
The worst damage the chat update did to AA was killing the devs will/passion for updating the game. Heed himself stated that Roblox’s actions had left them feeling that updating the game was not a worthy endeavour. Regrettably Roblox games essentially have to update to stay relevant and maintain player bases. And ever since AA stopped doing it has visibly affected it.
It is of my personal opinion that in order for AA to survive it must move off of Roblox. That itself is a tall order however. It would require rebuilding the game from complete scratch without the free tools and server hosting offered by Roblox. But I believe that AA could stand on its own two feet as its very own game, one that could succeed independently of Roblox. This wouldn’t be easy and not all of the players would move over, (especially if a price tag is added) but faced with death by obscurity over time or a chance to enter the spotlight I would gladly take the ladder option.
I love AA. I love its world its gameplay its ideas. It’s one of the few things that keeps me playing Roblox, and I would hate to see it fall into irrelevancy. I don’t expect any of this to change the devs or even you the readers mind on this. But take it as a plea to not let this game die.
