CELESTE (1972-1976) – CHAPTER 10: THE IMPERIA JAM SESSION AND THE RELEASE OF PRINCIPE DI UN GIORNO
We were also offered the opportunity to express this new vein on the occasion of the "First Pop Music Encounter" which was to be held at the Teatro Rossini in Imperia on June 18, 1975.
It was the organizers' intention to gather most of the musicians from the province of Imperia on the same stage to give life to a jam session in which all the participants were to alternate one after the other.
It was on that occasion that, for a moment, Battaglia, Lagorio, and I found ourselves playing together again with Marco Tudini, who had returned from London in order to be present at that event.
Memorable was the version we performed of a track featured on some compilations. The track in question was "Nodissea".
In the month of January 1976, "Principe di un Giorno" was finally published.
It was immediately reviewed by the main magazines of the era, with Ciao 2001 leading the way.
The comments were not particularly flattering, but much could not be expected since, as mentioned, the album was released with a long delay and the references made by most journalists were affected by the new climate that had established itself in the musical environment of that period.
Only a few years later, "Principe di un Giorno" was fully re-evaluated to become one of the most appreciated, sought-after, and representative works of the golden years of Italian Progressive Rock.
From 1980 onward, it experienced a renewed interest when, from distant Japan, that rediscovery began which led many of the most important Italian groups, and others, to live a second spring that to this day manifests itself in the attention that new generations continue to pay to the works of those years.
Certainly, those lukewarm appreciations and those discouraging considerations led me, Giorgio, Leonardo, and Mariano, in that final glimpse of 1976, to reflect on our work, attempting new solutions and trying to change direction.
