Short trips

Hey folks, just wondering how the fuel economy is on short trips? My understanding is that if you’re doing less than a couple of hundred k’s per day then it’s pretty good?

We live in cairns, I work from home and the wife does a majority of the driving, which mostly involves bussing the kids around. Our current small car isn’t really cutting it anymore with bikes and boards and other things. The wife wants something bigger like an suv but this seems like a more well rounded vehicle for our needs. We rarely do longer trips than 100 - 200kms.
