I’m exploring the idea of starting a women’s gymwear brand in India, but before putting serious money into it, I want to validate whether there’s actually a problem worth solving.
The idea is fairly simple: **premium-looking, flattering gym sets designed specifically for Indian women**, rather than just adapting generic international fits.
Things I’m thinking about:
₹1,500–₹2,000 per set
Mostly minimal / all-black aesthetic
Supportive but comfortable fits
Flared/straight-leg options alongside regular leggings
Sizes that actually account for different body shapes
Fabric that handles Indian heat, sweat and frequent washing
Pieces that look good enough to wear outside the gym too
I’m **not selling anything yet**. I’m currently trying to figure out whether women would actually pay for this.
For women who regularly go to the gym:
What annoys you most about the gymwear currently available in India?
What makes you choose one brand over another — fit, fabric, appearance, price, durability, compression, etc.?
What’s the most you’d realistically pay for a good-quality gym set?
Are there any brands you currently buy from that you think are genuinely good?
What’s something you wish gymwear brands would make differently?
If a new Indian brand offered a ₹1,500–₹2,000 set that genuinely solved those problems, would you consider buying it?
**Please be brutally honest.** If you think the market is already saturated and there’s no reason for another brand to exist, I’d rather hear that now than after spending money on inventory.
Also happy to hear from guys who buy gymwear for their partners/sisters/friends, but I’d especially like feedback from women who train regularly.

Indian women who train regularly — I’d love some brutally honest feedback
