Just installed a 3T Carrier 37MUHA and matching handler 45MUHA and using ecobee. How much difference to expect air velocity from the vent between stage 1 vs 2?
I use an anemometer and measure the vent velocity from the center of the register and compare stage 1 vs 2. Out of 10 registers, about 5 shows small difference, for ex: 7.6mph vs 6.9, 3.6 vs 3.3, 7.6 vs 7.1, 6.3 vs 6.0, 5.8 vs 5.4.
The others remain the same. While the anemometer isn't the most accurate way to measure, but i was expecting that by using a consistent way to measure, it'd show that stage1 output should be like 80% of stage 2 (or something like that).
The installer said they've wired stage1 for slow ramp up, and will come out to examine. In the mean time, Gemini is saying there're 2 options on the handler for stage1: low, medium; and if stage1 is wired for medium, it's only a 10% different in CFM, so maybe this is how the installer wired it? And suggest that it should be wired like this:
- Y1(Stage 1 / Low Cool) -> LOW Speed (~865 CFM, ~288 CFM/ton)
- Y2(Stage 2 / High Cool) -> HIGH Speed (~1,082 CFM, ~360 CFM/ton)
Is this correct? Thank you
