All Along The Watchtower really hit me tonight
I’ve been having a string of bad luck and a very hard time for about six months now. Tonight I was at Walmart and I saw the tire was low and then I went to put air in it and it went flat. It’s my roommate’s vehicle and I had to call him to come bring the air machine. He doesn’t have a jack in his vehicle. The reason I’m using his vehicle is a long story.
All of that is unrelated to Bob Dylan, but for some reason I thought of the line, “There must be someway out of here, said the joker to the thief. There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief. That really hit me hard.
Then the verse:
No reason to get excited"
The thief, he kindly spoke
"There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke, but, uh
But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talking falsely now
The hour's getting late,
I especially like the line, this is not our fate. I listened to the song a few times. I’ve heard it probably 100 times in my life. It’s never been favorite Bob Dylan song of mine. But for some reason it really moved me. It’s moved up a lot in my rankings. Has anyone ever had a Bob Dylan song that just touch them out of the blue?
