show contestant shoots self off stage?

Hello! I just had a flashback of a video i watched 10+ years ago of a show contestant running off stage after being denied, and then we hear a loud gunshot sounding sound.

i think the show might have been american idol? and i remember the contestant was a man. but that’s all of the information i remember. does anyone remember this??
