That one elder who needs help
Did you ever have that one elder that was older and asked you for computer help?
I did. I helped him when I was in and was an MS; I was the one who would help him with sending sensitive information up to HQ through the jdub portal. This went on for a few years and he always knew I wouldn’t speak of it because he’d be in trouble.
Fast forward to when I left the borg, this same elder who was in his late 60s would text me to go help him but would tell me not to tell anyone. I asked him once why no one from the congregation would help him, if they apparently were supposed to offer brotherly love, and he said they always claimed they didn’t have time.
He moved to serve at another congregation in the same hall, and the same thing happened. They assigned him some computer-based tasks and he was dumbfounded by everything they had him doing from the accounting, to assigning parts to the “friends” to making printouts for the memorial invites. I helped him until I heard he was talking negative of me saying I changed everything since I went to college and felt superior to everyone at the congregation and he didn’t like that.
I ended up just ignoring his text messages, phone calls, and left it there. He texted me a few months back asking how I was and if I could help him with a task but I ignored it and didn’t even read the whole message.
It’s sad that the same people who says “brotherly love” is supposed to be a thing, won’t help their own, but expect those who left the Borg to help them, only to talk negatively about them. I hope he’s doing ok but I hope he realizes that the Borg he’s strived to be in for so long, is just a sham and as soon as he is worthless to this new body of elders, they’ll throw him to the side like left overs.
I was reading someone else’s post and it reminded me of this elder.
