New player, worried if I've made a mistake

Hello all,

A few months ago I started getting into warhammer, and decided to go with the black templars because I liked the idea behind them and over the past several months I've gotten deeper into lore and the miniatures. I now have about 1,000pts of Templars, nearly all painted, but I haven't gotten to play a single game yet.

Despite this, I'm becoming more and more worried about gameplay, mostly because of what I've seen online; the loss of the army rule, the poor overall winrate, the general lack of strength templars seem to be stuck with and the fact that they're losing what makes them special all makes me worry that I've made a poor investment into the wrong chapter and I'm just not sure what to think anymore.

How do all of you feel about everything? Really curious as to what people who've actually played the templars on tabletop think about what the future could hold.
