Reached vermillon gap, what do?

I set down my base near the anvil and now not sure what to focus on next. The research gives you a little more freedom compare to before and I sorta used all my points without looking through what got unlocked lol. I did unlock the next tier base console thing and I placed it near my original base. Should I focus on building a new one or focus on the trials quest line?
