Lying to the police?
I filed a criminal complaint against someone for ongoing insults over an extended period. After investigation, the case has now been referred to the Public Prosecution and subsequently to the court with a hearing date set.
I have reviewed the police report and discovered that the accused has stated that I said certain things to him that I categorically did not say to which he has NO evidence as communication with him was only written. It’s unbelievable how someone would lie to the police given all the screenshots that were provided to the police and knowing full well he does not have written evidence to support his false verbal statement against me.
Can anyone familiar with UAE law tell me whether there are legal implications for knowingly providing false information or making false allegations to the police during a criminal investigation?
