Neopass Quest 1000 coins not working?

For the Neopass weekly quest for faerie fragments: when you spend coins on the booster during an event, does it check off your weekly quest for using 1000 coins?

It used to work for me, but now it doesn't and I'm really annoyed. Twice during the last event it didn't work. The first time I assumed it was a glitch and let it go. The second time I thought it was maybe not working for that event. Now it's a new event and again it doesn't work. Does this work for anyone else?

I'm so close to deleting this app, I don't know if I care enough about the event prizes and the quests anymore to keep slugging through. I'm nearly done my 3rd full round of completing this game and it's really not enjoyable anymore.
