Guy I’m seeing seems interested in person but suddenly texts super formally after our first date?

I’ve been seeing this guy and I genuinely can’t read him.

Before our first date, his texting was pretty normal, but since then his response times have gotten noticeably slower and his texts have become really polite/formal. Sometimes the way he texts genuinely sounds AI-generated 😭

The confusing part is that he seems completely fine in person. We kissed at the end of our last date, and he asked if we could see each other again sooner than we originally planned. But over text, he’s still the same, slow responses and weirdly formal/polite.

At the end of our last date, I also asked about his dating/relationship history. He told me he’s had one relationship, which ended about 3 months ago. He said he broke up with her because toward the end she didn’t want to meet up anymore. He also said he didn’t date during university because he was shy and had some health problems.

I can’t tell if the recent breakup is something I should be concerned about because 3 months feels kinda recent, especially combined with the change in texting.

Would any of this concern you, or am I overthinking his texting style?
