Important Announcement for all r/KingPrincess redditors -- regarding the current events, and what we can do next as a community to move forward
ATTENTION ALL r/kingprincess MEMBERS:
Due to a flare-up of intolerance within the queer community attacking KP over remarks made on an old podcast, for the safety of our members, we have decided to limit interactions from low karma accounts and place restrictions on joining. We also want to offer some much needed rule reminders and suggestions for conduct going forward.
As you may have seen, Twitter, TikTok, Tumblr, & Reddit have become riddled with anti-KP hate over the past 72 hours.
People are mixing up extremely complex issues of identity, labels, misogyny, phobias, politics, sexuality, celebrity status, who is responsible for what societal roles, and comparing those giant feelings and concepts against their own lived experiences and opinions. All of these big feelings everyone's got are valid --- but we absolutely DRAW THE LINE at death threats, threats of bodily harm, and suggested suicide.
We ask you to actively report anyone online who is sending threats of bodily harm, suicide, or un-aliving against the artist or anyone else. If you see something, say something.
We've also noticed that fans on Reddit have been harassing and bullying other fans. This behavior is inappropriate on all levels. People are entitled to their opinions, however, you CANNOT bully and harass others about their opinions, ideals, and values. If you must debate, debate ideas, not the person themselves. If you feel that you are becoming frustrated, agitated, or upset over an individual's comment, please report it to the mods and do not further engage with the person(s) who are making comments that you do not personally agree with. The mods will reach a consensus and make a final decision.
HOW TO HELP:
Many of you have messaged the mod team asking how you can help combat this hate, or offer support to KP. Here's what you can do to beat the algorithm of hate:
Make a post on Socials:
The most direct way to offer KP support is to tag them in a post or reel on Tiktok or Instagram, or make a thread here, sharing how you feel and support them. You can use their hashtag #kingprincess on Twitter/x.
Send KP a fan letter:
You can email a fan letter to one of our fan run emails: kingprincessarchives@yahoo.com, and a mod will ensure the letters reach Team KP. You can use images, .pdf format, or .text. The email is run *by a fan*, not KP, so please keep it respectful, remember the human and to be kind.
Stream some KP tunes or buy some merch in support:
You can stream KP songs and buy a shirt or album off their merch site. As we all know, buying a physical album or shirt helps the artist hundreds of times more than just streaming a song.
IN CONCLUSION:
We understand this is a very difficult time for this community. We should be coming together instead of tearing one another down -- our community is too small and too precious for us to be attacking each other.
King Princess has been here before, and weathered storms of cancellations before. This is the downside of living a nuanced experience as a queer person. People don't have to agree with everything KP said on the podcast, to deny them the right to exist as WHATEVER identity they choose for themselves.
There are bad things happening all over the planet. The far right wants to us to fight amongst ourselves, five weeks out before a major political election, to distract us. They want us at each other's throats. Don't let them get their way.
Fans who have questions or concerns, please contact the mods via DM. We will hold a safe space for you to share your emotions, thoughts, and feelings. We ask for civility and kindness. With much love and care,
-The r/kingprincess Mod Team
