is it possible for everyone (coworkers, friends, partners, family) to say that i am autistic and be wrong?
sorry if this isn't exactly clear but I [18,F]have been accused of being autistic for sometime now and I am torn and im hoping for others to share their stories/input. Basically I have been told I am autistic by almost anyone that gets to know me even on a surface level but i have never been diagnosed or had a doctor tell me that I could be autistic. I have been really defensive about it and trying to shut down any real conversations about possible neurodiversity but I am starting to think maybe people are right. I am noticing some traits I have that would align with autism such as sensory sensitivity (especially with sound, if you knew me you would see it), obsessions /hyperfixations, some lack of social cues+bluntness. but there are also some things that make me think I dont have it. for one, I feel like i make friends pretty easily and some social situations can be easyish for me. also a lot of people have misunderstandings about what autism is so that could factor into as well. can someone share their stories or input? thanks
