why do I only seem to attact girls with daddy issues
I’m 20M in college, and I’ve been thinking about this recently because I noticed a pattern that I honestly don’t know what to make of.
I’ve only had like 3 serious romantic situations so far, from highschool to college, including the girl I’m talking to right now 19F, and somehow all 3 girls have had pretty complicated relationships with their dads.
The first girl’s dad wasn’t really around and had some mental health problems. The second girl’s dad was around and would give her whatever she wanted financially, but emotionally he was pretty much unavailable. She’d try to hug him and he’d sometimes pull away or seem uncomfortable with it, and clearly had anger issues and would say things that really hurt her. He just wasn’t good at dealing with her emotions at all.
The girl I’m talking to right now, her dad works in another country, so he’s basically never around, she always misses him and sometimes vents to me about it.
And the weird thing is that I didn’t know any of this about these girls when I first liked them. I wasn’t specifically looking for girls with “daddy issues” or anything. I would just meet them, like them, get close to them, and then eventually find out about their relationship with their dad.
I’ve also liked girls who seem to have really good relationships with their dads, and from my experience, those girls usually haven’t been interested in me back. Obviously I know that’s a tiny sample size and could just be coincidence, but it’s happened enough that I started noticing it.
I guess I’m just confused because I don’t even know what I’m supposed to take from this. Maybe it’s completely random and I’m just noticing a pattern because I’ve only dated 3 people. Maybe I have a certain personality that these girls tend to like. Maybe I’m subconsciously attracted to certain traits that I haven’t really noticed
