Why is wanting a financially stable partner seen as wanting their money?

I want to ask this without being misunderstood.
Why, when a woman says she wants a man who has money, is it assumed that she only wants his money, without considering that she may want her future children to have a good life and the best opportunities possible? I’m genuinely just asking.
