Genealogy/history advice.

My siblings have recently done DNA testing which revealed about a fifth or so Ashkenazi. So a grandparent or great grandparent. However it was through ancestry so I’m mildly skeptical of the results because of the history behind the LDS and the Jewish community among other things. the only line that could be is largely from the wine industry around rems valley of Württemberg and has a paper trail that spans towards 1609. We left Before WWI. Which should not be possible given the laws of the time. However Im missing a lot of information about my Opa’s maternal side.

The surnames are largely ambiguous:
**Lederer**, South German & Ashkenazi
Meaning “leather-er” or tanner
most of us were rural weingaertners though in the Rems valley wine industry
**boschulte,** Dutch / German
Meaning of a “*wooded grove*”
**Schaal,** Sephardi, Ashkenazi, & German
Hebrew: *to inquire* / *Saul* | German: *bowl*
**Siegel**, Ashkenazi / German
***S****egan* ***L****eviyyah* (סגן לוויה)** **assistant the levites*. German: signet, a scribe or notary*
**Fischer,** German
A fisherman
**Eisenbraun**, Swabian
“Iron-brown” metalworker or swarthy person
**Lemberger**, Ashkenazi/German
Common Jewish surname for one associated with Lviv, Ukraine (Lemberg) or one of several places Germans knew as Lemberg
**Bäder,** German/Ashkenazi
Bath house worker
**Pfundstein,** South German
“Pound stone” a merchants weighing stone

Is it possible that some of them converted during the expulsions prior to the 30 years war, or did Ashkenazi folks practice crypto Judaism?

Please also note this is for my own personal info and I plan to avoid ancestry™️/the Mormon cult at all costs.

Much appreciated in advance. I hope you had an easy fast just recently and a lovely new year.
