I think Morales is one of the most overrated prospects of all time and I will break my arguments down

1. He’s not THAT big. There is a narrative that Morales is some oversized weight bully monster and this is simply not true. His fight night weights have consistently been in the low 190lb range which is very normal for a welterweight. The main point to his size comes from his OUT of camp weight , which similarly to paddy he allows himself to balloon up in weight between camps which is where the viral images of him flexing and on the scale come from. However if you actually look at his weigh ins yes he looks big but not astronomically so. Other welterweights could easily get to that 200lb+ range as well but choose not to as it makes the cut harder in the future which is why it doesn’t take them 6 months to make weight like it does Morales as he has to shed the weight he gained in between camps. His last 2 opponents as stated by the rage bait title of this post were also short fighters that could easily have made lightweight in their careers, making Morales ( a true middleweight) look even bigger. To cap this off go look at his face off vs Magny to see his “massive” size advantage.

2. His striking is overrated. Morales consistently throws wild combos and hooks that can lead to success but also lead to him getting clipped consistently. He just has had the fortune of not running into a super deadly striker that can fully take advantage of these holes but this is the reason I would bet on Carlos or JDM to beat him if they ever fought

3. He does not have that much power. Morales beats people by tko not KO like Carlos. His wins come from overwhelming his opponents with a flurry of strikes until the ref calls it not stiff koing them. His best TKO also arguably came from the Brady fight where he did real damage and that has shifted this narrative so much in the wrong direction.

TLDR Morales is a true middleweight who’s physical aspects and skills are overrated

Pro tip- fight short true lightweights so everyone thinks you’re a huge monster
